      Which Way

While traveling, a man came to a fork in the road. Unsure of which way to go, he shouted to a farmer who was working in a nearby field. "Hey, old-timer! I'm heading to Brownsville. Does it make any difference which road I take?" The old man answered, "Not to me, it don't."

Sometimes I feel like the traveler. I'm going down the road of life. I think I know where I'm headed. But then I come to a fork in the road - - - or sometimes a dead-end. I'm trying to figure out which way to go and no one seems to care.

But all to often, I find myself in the shoes of the farmer. I'm busy doing my own thing. I don't have time to deal with your problem. It makes no difference to me.

      Not the Destination

It's been said that life's a journey, not a destination and that it's not the destination that makes the journey worthwhile. In truth, we do make a difference to each other - - - or at least we should. When was the last time you paused on your journey long enough to help someone traveling down the same road?

Learn more about making a difference.

Learn more about man's ultimate destination.

      Quotes to Remember:

It is wise to remember that you are one of those who can be fooled some of the time.
-Laurence J. Peter (1919-1988) USA Educator & Writer

A fool judges people by the presents they give him.

      Something to Think About:
The bathtub was invented in 1850.
The telephone was invented in 1875.
This might not seem like much but, if you had lived back then, you could have sat in the bathtub for 25 years without being bothered by the phone.

animated image of Doctor Holding Check Up Clip Board - Graphic provided by Animation Factory A.A.A.D.D.

      Recently, I was diagnosed with A. A. A. D. D.
. . . Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

      This is how it manifests:

I decide to wash my car. As I start toward the garage, I notice that there is mail on the hall table. I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys down on the table, put the junk mail in the trash can under the table, and notice that the trash can is full. So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the trash first.

But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the trash anyway, I may as well pay the bills first. I take my checkbook off the table, and see that there is only one check left. My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go to my desk where I find the can of Coke that I had been drinking.

I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Coke aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over. I see that the Coke is getting warm, and I decide I should put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the coke a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye--they need to be watered. I set the Coke down on the counter, and I discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly I spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table. I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I will be looking for the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers.

I splash some water on the flowers, but most of it spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back down on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill. Then I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day: the car isn't washed, the bills aren't paid, there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter, the flowers aren't watered, there is still only one check in my checkbook, I can't find the remote, I can't find my glasses, and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.

Then when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day long, and I'm really tired. I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail.

The following is an excerpt from a new book. I haven't read the book yet, but it sounds intriguing. -Steve

      Dark Horse
      by John Fischer

For as long as I can remember, I had always wanted to be a white horse. I wasn't all white, but my good ancestry had left me more white than most horses I knew, and fortunately, in the most important places. Most of my face was white, and the white of my right front leg ran up to my shoulder so that if I stood at an angle . . . with my good leg out . . . and my head slightly cocked . . . all you could see was white.

It was a good sign, I was told, and the mark of a leader.

      By Someone Else:

image of Heart with Arrow thru it The Blessing of a Mate

Someone has compiled the following list of observations about married life:

      • A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can spend. A successful woman is one who can find such a man.

      • Men wake up as good-looking as they went to bed. Women somehow deteriorate during the night.

      • A man is a person who will pay two dollars for a one-dollar item he wants. A woman will pay one dollar for a two-dollar item that she doesn't want.

      • To be happy with a man you must understand him a lot and love him a little. To be happy with a woman you must love her a lot and not try to understand her at all.

      • When women are depressed, they either eat or go shopping. Men invade another country.

      • A woman marries a man expecting he will change, but he doesn't. A man marries a woman expecting that she won't change and she does.

      • A woman worries about the future until she gets a husband. A man never worries about the future until he gets a wife.

      • There are two times when a man doesn't understand a woman - before marriage and after marriage.

      • Only two things are necessary to keep one's wife happy. One is to let her think she is having her own way. The other is to let her have it.

      • Any married man should forget his mistakes - there's no use in two people remembering the same thing.

      • A man has six items in his bathroom - a toothbrush, shaving cream, razor, a bar of soap, deodorant and a towel. The average number of items in the typical woman's bathroom is 437. A man would not be able to identify most of these items.

      • A woman always has the last word in any argument. Anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new argument.

Although I am sometimes accused of being personally responsible For the deterioration of relations between men and women in this country, my wife and I can joke about such things because, deep down, we realize how much we mean to each other.

Allow me to share some personal thoughts with you. God has truly blessed me with the most wonderful woman on the face of this earth. We have shared our lives together for over 26 years. We thought when we first got married that it couldn't get any better, but it has (and it continues to do so!).

I hold my wife personally responsibility for anything I may achieve in this life. She is my source of strength and my encouragement when things are rough. She is the one who knows me best, with all my shortcomings and failures, and yet still loves me. She always sees the best in me, and always manages to bring out the best in me. She is one I most enjoy talking to and spending time with. She is my best friend. How blessed I am!

"He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from the LORD." (Proverbs 18:22)

"Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice with the wife of your youth." (Proverbs 5:18)

Those of you who are married, I encourage you to give thanks to God for the blessing He has given you. Those who are not married (but hope to be), I pray that God will someday bless you with a mate as wonderful as mine.

      Have a great day!

What is the Deal with those Ads?

You will see ads in Blessed to Bless! These advertisers keep the newsletter FREE by paying for ad space. My host, Mike Hodapp (Tigger at hundred-acre-woods.com), uses the proceeds to pay the basic expenses of his Internet service as a web site host server as well as sending a portion each month to feed starving orphans in third world countries. The advertisers pay by the number of clicks on the ads, NOT by the number of sales.

Read a more in-depth explanation of the ads.
