Only Man Standing
Two photos that have been circulating around the Internet caught my attention this week.
In the foreground of the first photo, six or seven people are sitting on a street curb
watching a parade. A U.S. Marine Color Guard is passing by. Only one person is standing
. . . a man in a wheelchair.
A group of U.S. soldiers are standing outside a tent in the Iraqi desert in the .
They are huddled together, arms linked, and heads bowed in prayer.
Taking a Stand
No doubt other people, not shown, stood as the colors passed by in the parade. Those who
did not rise to their feet are probably no less patriotic than the man who did. But for
some reason, only this man chose to stand.
The group of soldiers also took a stand. They chose to stand for their country. But more
importantly, they chose to stand for their belief in a higher power - one greater than
George W, one greater than Saddam, one greater than the U.S. or the U.N. They unashamedly
stood in the middle of the Iraqi desert and spoke to Him about their protection and the
ultimate outcome of the situation they were now in.
Worth Standing For
What do you believe in? What are you willing to stand for? There is one who warrants
such commitment.
