      All the Rage

The school bus made its routine stop and two or three high school students poured out the door. I had come to a stop a few feet behind. One boy was definitely in style. His pants were positioned about mid-way on his hips while his sky-blue boxers were at a fashionably higher level. I really wasn't paying that much attention, but then I realized his knee-length shorts had suddenly become ankle-length. As he walked away, his pants had released their precarious grip. Thankfully, the boxers were holding on tighter. It had taken me by surprise; but apparently he was used to it - or at least he was able to keep his cool. He nonchalantly reached down and pulled them back up to the acceptable height - never missing a step.

The latest styles come in all forms. Baggy pants, cargo pants, capris, tank tops, Nikes, body piercing, colored hair, spiked hair, tattoos . . . and the list goes on. Whatever happened to the sensible styles of the 50s, 60s and 70s? Paisley print shirts, corduroy slacks, PF Flyers, poodle skirts, flat tops and Butch Wax, side burns, Beetle's haircuts (at least I had hair then), double knit clothes, leisure suits . . . well maybe, it's not that much different after all.

      Always in Style

The saying goes that nothing stays the same. Yet another says, "The more things change, the more they stay the same." Life can be that way, leaving us wondering if we are in style or not. There is one constant that we can depend on. One that never changes. One that is always in style. It's called the Bible, God's Word. In it can be found the one best answer to all the challenges of this life.
